Mid- term syllabus of Biochem-617: Justification, data explanation, and other detail present in research articles will be included in both the mid and final exam. Two lectures (given below) and 5 research articles.

Biochem-617: Start preparing your presentations and assignments….. Assignment submission is the second week of March 2023. The presentations will also be started after mid-term exam.

F. What I will teach you

- Your title of the article can be in the form:
Hexokinase-II Positively Regulates Glucose Starvation-Induced Autophagy through TORC1 Inhibition - The articles should not be older than 2018.
- Please don’t select a survey-based article to present.
- The article should not be review article but only research article.
C. Material to submit before and after the presentation
- All students will submit me the page containing the title and two questions for every presentation.
- Presenter will submit summary of the article (3 sets)
- containing these headings (as shown in D).
D. General Questions to be asked during the presentation
1) Pathway or importance of gene/technology/discovery
2) Rationale
3) Conclusion of the full article
4) New finding present in the article
5) Applications of the findings
6) Future prospectives
7) Principle of every technique used in the research article
E. General instructions for presenter and listeners
- The presentation must be around 15 long with 5 minutes for question and answer session.
- You must make ppt files from the choosen research article (plus material from internet if you want).
- You must not miss any figure from the research article.
- There must be ~15-20 slides in ppt file.
- One slide usually takes 1 to 2 min.
- You must submit your ppt slides directly to my email address ([email protected]).
- During listening, every student must write two questions to be asked.
- If you feel any problem or problem of managing work among members, you can consult me.
F. Marks distribution
- Assignment material and PPT, Presentation skills, Question answer (5×2 = 10 marks)
- Attendance (5 marks)
- Attitude during questions and answers (5 marks)
- The students who don’t present at their designated time, their presentation marks will be skipped or they will get low score.

I. Presentation set up
- we may take extra classes to complete presentations.
- If by chance all students could not deliver presentations ….
- Then remaining students will record their presentation [slide + voice merged] (less than 25 min long)… And will send me 10 days before the final exam. We can take practical class or any extra class during the week, therefor come on Monday with prepared presentation.
- So no chance of escape..therefore, start preparing your ppts.
If any of you feel any problem in 720 or 703.. first discuss it with your 2 or 3 fellows one by one.. if they don’t help you then ask me.. then I will guide you….

J. How to find the impact factor of a journal?
Write the name of the journal and the word “impact factor” in google.com… you can easily see the impact factor. Or download below given excel list impact factor and check.
K. How to make a general understanding of the research article?
- After reading the abstract and intro…
- Understand every figure by reading the caption and then by reading text (in results) about the same figures.
- Then read the full article.
- Better memorize the discussion…
- Reading the article may take 5 days…
- If you tell me about difficulty very late it is your fault that you started work very late…

How to search and download an article:
First of all go to google.com and search journal of your interest. Then go to current issue or any issue not older than 2018. Select article and click download. If journal is paid then do as follows:
http://gen.lib.rus.ec/ open page-click other- click scientific article- then search. It contains all articles that are not even available in Yonsei library site.
https://sci-hub.cc/ you can download almost all articles from this site.

www.googlescholar.com is a good choice for searching an article. If we sign in using our Gmail and search article then our suggested article related to our added publication will also appear. Moreover, our search results will be saved.
www.pubmed.com is also a good choice that can search efficiently against a given author name. It also suggests an article similar to our search in the right side
www.scopus.com is good and give good choice of search. It can download pdf upto 50 articles with author name, date and title in a suggested folder.
www.sciencedirect.com is also good. It suggest similar article that we search and download.
